Our commitment to patients and our community
Seagen’s dedication to improving the lives of patients goes beyond science. We seek to live out our mission by supporting education, research, and advocacy initiatives within the cancer care community.
Our Community Impact Committee partners with local nonprofit organizations to create unique volunteer opportunities for our employees. Through financial support, training, and a team-based approach, we help our employees make a meaningful difference in the communities where we live and work.
Seagen is a proud sponsor of Obliteride, an annual cycling event that fuels innovative cancer research at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. During this weekend event, the Seagen team joins other scientists, survivors, and advocates to cycle, run, and walk up to 100 miles to fund life-saving science. Since 2013, Obliteride has raised nearly $30 million for cancer research.
May is Bladder Cancer Awareness Month. It is a time for us to focus our passion for patients on a community impacted by one of the most common cancers in the United States. In 2020, Seagen participated in Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network’s virtual Walk to End Bladder Cancer. Our team walked on treadmills, outside, or inside the house in demonstration of our commitment to people impacted by bladder cancer.
Every year, our team organizes fundraisers for children in need in our local communities. This year-round effort includes food drives for more than 16,000 kids at emergency service centers during summer break and toy drives during the winter holiday season.
At Seagen, many of us have also experienced cancer firsthand. We know how challenging it can be and the critical importance of community support. As part of our mission, Seagen provides grants for education and advocacy initiatives that improve the lives of patients with cancer. We support nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations that provide:
While Seagen will consider all eligible requests for charitable donations, we receive more than we are currently able to fund. We prioritize working directly with patient education and support programs and do not generally support gala fundraisers.
As a company, we believe in the importance of innovative education for our healthcare community. To support these initiatives, we provide grants for independent medical education (IME) programs that address unmet medical needs, foster clinical excellence, and improve health outcomes.
As part of Seagen’s mission to make a meaningful difference to patients, we are proud to support patient advocacy organizations and related initiatives. We engage in collaboration and partnerships with patient organizations and provide funding through sponsorships, grants, and donations to support efforts that positively impact patients’ lives.
