Program Overview
The Doctor of Pharmacy fellowship at Seagen is a one-year, post-doctoral experience designed to help prepare professionals for a promising career within the oncology biopharmaceutical industry. These oncology fellowships are uniquely challenging and rewarding as we work as a team to bring potential medicines to cancer patients around the world. Fellows in each department will gain a variety of experiences by supporting products in a cross-functional environment.
Each Fellow at Seagen is treated as a valued member of their department. Fellows are asked to take on a longitudinal project that will leave a lasting impact for their department moving forward. All Fellows will complete a set of core competencies and gain experience in certain aspects of their department; however, our Fellows have a unique advantage to tailor the experience toward areas of their individual interest. The program also provides a strong framework for professional and career development to guide the Fellow to a successful career within the biopharmaceutical industry.

The fellowship program is designed for high-potential PharmD’s who are seeking opportunities to learn and contribute to a fast-paced biotech environment. As the 2019 Marketing Fellow, I had the privilege of supporting the U.S. commercial launch of a new, best-in-class treatment for HER2+ breast cancer. During this time, I managed the development and execution of various HCP promotional activities across multiple marketing channels. The fellowship program was the jumpstart I needed for a successful career in Medical Affairs. I enjoyed working not only with our marketed products, but also with our early- and late-stage pipeline, cementing my understanding of Medical Affairs’ role throughout a product’s lifecycle. The company views their Fellows as participating team members, and I had the unique opportunity to take an active role in launching a new molecule for its first FDA-labeled indication. The work was fulfilling, challenging, and I was surrounded by the brightest and most engaging colleagues I could hope for. The fellowship program has been a valuable experience for me to apply my clinical knowledge while gaining a thorough understanding of pharmacovigilance across the product life cycle. It is a very exciting time for anyone with a passion for oncology to become involved with the pipeline programs at Seagen. I find value and fulfillment in learning to assess the safety of medications for cancer patients and in developing relationships with the co-Fellows and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.

The Medical Affairs fellowship has allowed me to gain insight and provide value to various departments throughout the organization. My projects spanning from early- to late-stage development have provided invaluable experience, unlike anything I would have found elsewhere.
